Thursdays tend to be a difficult day as far as eating and consuming enough protein. Monday days I wake at 5:30 am, I leave home at 7:00 am This gives me time to get to work, relax and eat breakfast before I start my day. Breakfast typically is a protein shake or oatmeal / cream of wheat. Thursdays however is different, I wake at 4:30 am, leave home at 6:00 am and breakfast doesn’t happen till after 8:00 am.
I attend a meeting from 06:30 am – 08:00 am. Unless I drink a protein shake during the meeting, I don’t eat breakfast till after 8:00 am. This throws my entire day out of whack. This morning, I brought a cup of cinnamon orange tea, I sipped that during the meeting but got so immersed in the meeting that I forgot my protein shake. Breakfast therefore wasn’t till 9:00 am this morning. This behavior seems to make me want to eat all freaking day long.
Pre-surgery, I would have rushed into McDonald’s, ordered a Bacon, egg and cheese biscuit with 2 hash browns (I miss this some mornings). These days, I try and make a green smoothie on a Thursday and sip this during the meeting. After today, i need to bring my smoothie / protein drink so that I’m not making stupid choices.
