I am now 6 months post op and have lost a total of 52lbs. Yes it is slowing down. Thank you age and hormones that don’t want to listen. Though, if all in all, I manage to lose 100lbs after a year, I’ll be quite happy. I can see some major changes in my body. I don’t like the changes as they come with saggy skin, lots of wrinkles and dry skin.
The positives however are HUGE. Losing weight, decreasing BMI (I was over 50 am now 44), so much energy, sleeping better, getting off medication, etc. One of the most important to me is my A1C which is bloodwork for diabetes has come from 6.6 to 5.4 that is huge, I’m back in normal ranges now and I am ecstatic about it. I can also run up a flight of stairs and I am not breathless when get to the top.
My surgeon has now told me to transition to a Whole Foods Plant Based (WFPB) diet. So, no more dairy, animal products, etc. This greatly changes how I currently eat. It also changes how I’ve eaten in the past.
I did vegetarian / vegan about 10-12 years ago and gained weight. This was due to eating bread and pastas to fill me. Hopefully with having no stomach I won’t be eating a ton of fillers.
