One thing we all count on for validation is our scale. I know at first I was quite literally getting on the scale every morning to weigh. Trust me, this does a major number on you mentally. I’ve started getting on the scale once a week and sometimes I see weight loss and sometimes I don’t.
The past few months I have been adjusting to a whole foods plant based diet. For 2 months the scale did not move an ounce. It is finally moving in the right direction. Once I get back into my exercise routine, I’ll drop a little faster I suspect.
We tend to focus on numbers, the scale, clothing size, inches we have lost. While all these are important, they do not necessarily define whether you’re successful or not. I honestly believe it is how you feel and your attitude toward this journey. Would I like to weigh 130lbs? Yes I would. I’m about 100lbs away from that. I know I can do it, it is going to take work. and I’m fully prepared for that work.
Baritastic is an app recommended to me by my surgeon. You put your start weight, end weight and it give you goals. How are the goals decided, I have no clue. But I was excited when I hit my 3rd goal. 70 lbs from surgery . Yes. that is something to be excited about, but looking at where I need to get to, It is distressing as I wish I were further along.
But with that goal achieved, I had a wonderful NSV this weekend. In September, I purchased a 3X rugby jersey (they tend to run small), I figured 3 x would be perfect. Well how wrong was I on that one. Anyway. I put it on on Sunday and it fit. In fact It fit so well, it may not fit for too much longer. With each scale goal achieved, there are a number of NSV’s that one should celebrate.
