New Year, New resolutions??

I’m not one to do resolutions for the new year. I find we tend to set ourselves up to fail. So I much prefer to look at lifestyle changes. Usually I do small things that are sustainable.

I’m slowly educating myself in healthy eating, healthy lifestyle.

This weekend, I found a documentary on Amazon Prime called “Beyond weight loss”.

Watching this makes me realize how flawed diets and such are. The United States is very much a culture of quick and easy. We want instant gratification. We seldom want to work for what we want. Slowly but surely I’m working on long term results and not instant gratification.

Beyond weight loss, https://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Weight-Loss-Keith-Klein/dp/B08DKB4FXK talks about sustainable eating and retraining ones brain regarding nutrition and exercise. They also talk about nutrient dense food. Too often we think eating healthy means eating salads, but honestly, how often do we eat a huge salad and a hour later we are starving. I know I need more than just a salad. I find adding something like farro, quinoa or a whole grain keeps me satisfied far longer than just eating a salad.

I’m still on my weight loss journey, I have to remember it is a marathon, not a sprint. I’m able to walk up to 4miles in an hour ad a decent pace. I wake up and I have clarity and am not foggy. I will admit, eating a whole food plant based diet has really helped with this. I have energy, I mostly have a clear mind and I’m eating food that is absolutely delicious and nutritious. I absolutely love what I am eating on a daily basis.

In a few days, I’ll do a sample menu of my daily intake. It really is simple and oh so yummy. I don’t feel deprived by anything that I am eating.
