BMI and metabolic age

I try not to fixate on the scale. I have to remind myself that it is all just numbers. It is so easy to jump on the scale everyday to see if I’ve last something. If I do not drop, I get despondent and find junk to eat, or don’t eat at all. Food addiction is very real.

This week I weighed and clocked in at my lowest weight in a long time, 222.8 with a BMI of 39.5. I’m so super excited to have a BMI under 40. It has been at least 20 years since my BMI has been this low. I still have a way to go before my BMI is normal, But I am OK with this. I realize that weight loss surgery is a marathon and not a sprint.

It all enforces good eating habits and working out. Weight didn’t pile on over night, it took time, so losing it will take time. I’ve been fortunate to not have much flabby skin. I know it is still coming, but mostly my skin should be OK. I know a few people that have major flab, maybe I’m not vain enough ha.

Anyway, to be below 40 for the first time in a long time is very exciting to me. Normal BMI for my age is 25, so I have a bit to go, but as I said, marathon vs sprint.

I have this nifty little scale called a Renpho, it connects to my phone and app via bluetooth. It gives some really interesting data like BMI, Body fat %, Fat free body weight, etc. If you click say Body fat %, it gives you the normal range.

It also gives you your metabolic age. Based on your body composition it tells you what age your body is. Mine started at around 60, I am now 57. As I lose weight, my metabolic age will come down. I am quite excited to see numbers dropping.

Another plus is, you can put in various measurements, Neck, chest, hips, etc and it will track the loss / gain in inches. All in one little place / app.

Below is a link to the scale I use. I do not get paid or have been paid to promote the scale.
